My corn burner pulls 150 watts max. This unit does not have enough power to run it correctly. I thought doubling the demand for starting the auger would be enough power, but I guess I need a bigger one.
Don't bother October 19, 2009 J. Johnson (Boston, MA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This might be one of the worst electronic product designs I've seen. Plug in any power cord, even without a load on the other end, and this device makes an impressive radio transmitter. Broadband noise from 30 to well over 100MHz was horrific. Out of curiosity, I pulled the device apart to determine the source of the RF and what I found was a product with so many misaligned parts and poorly done work-arounds, it shouldn't even be passed off as a prototype. Note to the manufacturer: your CE stamp isn't even CE compliant.
Smoke July 18, 2008 Vao Matua (Oregon, USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I'm not sure what items this will power, but an iPod caused it to 'pop' and smoke came out of the front of the inverter. Sorry I bought this product.
Not an improvement over the older model. December 2, 2008 Michelangelo Flores (Waco, TX USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
The first one of these new inverters I bought popped and smoked, also. I sent it back, but the new one doesn't perform anywhere near as well as the older, larger, grey model. I was very disappointed in the performance, and returned mine for a refund.
Terrible December 29, 2009 K. Chan (NJ/NYC, USA) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This low priced series of Aims inverters are ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE. Terrible workmanship and build quality which are not build to last. I bought my 24V 300W unit from "fleabay", connect it to a battery, initially its output is 118V, plugged in a 12V 10A power brick, it works. Then I plugged in a 320W studio flash and the flash won't recycle. Turned it off and on, now it doesn't even have a normal 120V output. After couple resets without load, the green light comes on and red light stays on for 2 seconds, blink and repeats. Basically a DOA. You may argue my flash killed the inverter, but my flash works perfectly on similar model of Samlex's inverter. What is even more bizarre is that the flash works perfectly on Aims 12V 180W model. Yes, you can buy these inverters real cheap on "fleabay", but I afraid sooner or later you will be stuck with a non-working unit and wished you had paid more for brands like Samlex or Xantrex. I returned mine and got refunded. Don't believe me? Buy yourself one, take the cover off and you will know..I almost puked after seeing the solder joints and components position inside!
